Episode 1: The Snowfall Surprise

Cedarwood Landing Mysteries — Season One

The first snow of December had settled on Cedarwood Landing. Lark Evergreen breathed in the crisp air as she unlocked Cozy Nook Candles & Curiosities. Her little shop sat tucked between the bakery and the post office. The old converted train car had shelves of candles and vintage items. The scent of candles greeted Lark as she stepped into the shop.

Something felt… off.

Immediately, she noticed a small bronze candle snuffer on her workbench. Delicate filigree wrapped the handle, worn smooth with age. Tied to the snuffer was a tiny wooden tag, burnt lightly around the edges.

“RETURN TO THE POINT WHERE THE SNOW STOOD STILL.”

Her skin prickled with goosebumps. The snuffer smelled of peppermint and smoke. Familiar, but out of place.

The bell above the door jingled. Mrs. Alderberry rushed in,  “I brought some empty jars for reuse,” she said, placing them on a counter with a smile.

Quickly,  Lark slid the snuffer into a drawer.

Near dusk, as she shoveled snow from the walkway, a movement across the street caught her eye. A shadowed figure seemed to watch her. Before she could blink, the figure vanished into the trees.

Back inside, she sorted a basket of “Winter Curiosities”—items donated by locals for her to sell or repurpose. One small jar had a piece of wood inside it. Tipping it out, she noticed one of the corners had 1 / 6 burnt into it.

Weird.

Lark tucked the tiny piece of wood into her coat pocket. Outside, the snow fell harder, blanketing the town in white. Inside, a new mystery had just begun.
