The strangest thing happened last night. I was getting ready to work on Death in the Desert (book 2 in the Comstock series) when I decided to take a few minutes to scroll through Facebook.

There was a post from one of the local Sheriff’s Department about a call they received Sunday evening. Evidently a dirt bike rider had been shot twice. It appears as though he was shot by someone out target practicing. A freak accident.

Weirdly enough, that was the whole premise of Death in the Desert. I wrote all of that months ago.

After much thought, I decided there is no way I can continue with that storyline and will have to go back to the drawing board now and rewrite that book. So, I’m scratching that from my goals for April and Q2 which really frustrates me because finishing that book was the main goal I wanted to accomplish.

Now what? I’m going to focus my efforts on book 2 in the Silver Shores series, Project Charlie, and I will dust off the Christmas novels sooner than expected.
