Things started off strong in January with three 5-star books! I read 6 books in January which puts me 1 book ahead of schedule for the Goodreads 2023 reading challenge.

The Children’s Blizzard was the staff book club pick and it was everything I heard it was. I found myself holding my breath in parts and could hardly put it down. A definite 5-star!

Crenshaw is the book my 3rd-grade book club picked. It was fantastic! The kids loved it and so did I! Another definite 5-stars.

The Invisible Life of Addie Larue was so good! I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it or not based on mixed reviews but if you like a dual timeline light fantasy you should give this one a try. Absolutely 5-stars!

I selected The Picture of Dorian Gray as my classic for the month. The only thing I can say is to give it a chance because it’s a bit different and has a very slow start. 4-stars.

The Storm Keepers Island was the pick of the kids in my 4th-grade book club. It was ‘okay’. I struggled through it as did the kids. It just wasn’t what I hoped for. 4-stars (because the kids said so).

The lowest book of the month for me was The Snowman Killer. It was a good story, I liked it but it was such a short book that I had a hard time connecting with the characters. Still a solid 3-stars.

Whew, I’m so excited about February’s books! I hope they are as great as January!
